Thanks for the instructions. I need to do 15 metres of this, I guess just...rinse and repeat right? 👍
My neighbor has a gas model, I have an electric. His is sooo loud! I don't want to start ww3. I am thinking about just buying him my electric model.
Use a cordless electric leaf blower.
I'm going to order a bigger one to use as a protective shade area so our Chihuahua can go outside via a doggy door without the hawks and eagles getting him.
nice one - wondering if those metal braces can be used internally? Ie on the inside of a rebate joint to add strength?
Hi Stuart, sorry for the delay. Preferably not. When the braces are on the outside face load I’d distributed to the braces reasonably evenly & then diffused to the ground. When on the inside load is taken 100% by the screws. This increases the likelihood of the joints failing as the screws pull out. That make sense?
That’s different from all the other liners, simulates rock, where is this available?
You should find them in large hardware barns that have a good landscape department otherwise at big landscape suppliers or specialist stores that handle things like pond pumps and other equipment.
Autumn season 🎄.Monsieur illustrated very briefly and Thank Q so much 🙏🎄.
Better to use it to make pottery
Awesome restoration. Happy Holidays. Peace, love and harmony.
dude thank you so much. Going to try this immediately and will report back.
Can you please advise where to get these blocks? Thanks
Hi Liri, you should find large hardware stores or building supply outlets either stock them or can get them in.
Very elegant, Adam. If I am digging into ground that is almost totally clay, do I need to be using post holes as wide as yours to achieve the same sort of rigidity? I plan on digging to a depth of 450mm, so only 400mm of the 2.4m post is in the ground, which is what you've done, from what I can see. High winds are not common where I am, so not too concerned about it acting like a big sail......
If it’s not a wind risk & you have stable clay soil that should be fine Sean.
Hello Mr Adam. Thank you so much for this video.. My name is mariama, i'm passionate about planting cacao, and i just discover that firslty i will need to build a shade house for the nursery stage.. so i have more question to ask you personally concerning this.. i will really love to get more in touch with you.. via any social media plantform.. thank you so much
Good video........except I cannot hear you over the background music.
tried the mirror trick. Brian just managed to bury it
They are nothing if not determined @Frankie I'll give them that. It does seem that this trick works best on younger birds.
We need this guy in Hackney East London England now........
Freestanding means it’s not posted into the ground.
Hey @Heather. In the world of building stuff free-standing means separate from other structures, e.g. - not attached to the wall of the house. I promise I didn't make it up... from the dictionary... "free-standing (adjective) - not attached to or supported by another structure." Cheers.
Great video - I've had a leaf blower for a year, used it once and went back to raking. It's been like the "thing" in the corner of the garage, until I watched this. . . Thank you, big help!
Glad it was useful! Thanks.
Yes but how do I use a leaf blower and get along with my friends?
The real trick? Switch to battery gear. The stuff that's come out since I filmed this is way more powerful & advanced. I don't have a petrol blower anymore.
I’ve got a pair that visit my yard. I think their mound is over the road in rookwood cemetery which is fine by me. They come and roost in a tree and pick from the compost heap, they seem to be making a comeback in sydney.
Appreciate the lesson! 🍂
No worries!
I need you to put one together for me....ayyyy
I'd love to host them in my gardens! Isn't the whole point of having a garden is to provide habitat for local wildlife? They are smart, inquisitive, funny, and beautiful creatures ❤
My garden now is a lot bigger, about 1 acre, and I have one nesting. Letting him just do his thing. It's okay when you have enough room but in the case of the one in the video he was right beside the house and a main walkway to downstairs so basically... worst possible spot.
Cheers mate, that was a top video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Use a small footbal goal with medium sized net, blow into the goal and the leafs will gather and not fly all over

Bamboo palant
Hi
Thank you for doing a video on bamboo used for privacy
No problem 😊
My camellia is in the pot and lost all her leaves.
Hey @Vesna, sorry to hear that. Did anything happen to her? Too wet? Too dry? Extreme weather?
This isn't diy. Needs to buy an expensive bit of plumbing kit for it to work.
Weeeellll... any DIY is going to involve using materials of some sort that you've purchased. In this case it's irrigation gear, not timber & nails. I think you'll find for most people DIY simply means do-it-yourself rather than calling in trades. And the gear I used wasn't particularly expensive. All the projects I do are done on a home-owner's budget, they're not 'sponsored'.
Homeowners can sue neighbors who have bamboo and it comes over in their yard. Bamboo can ruin cement driveways foundations Comfort zones in your patio
Hi @Get. I agree 100%. If you plant running bamboo. I have seen it punch-up through asphalt in roadways 10m away from the main clump. The only type of bamboo I would ever recommend is clumping bamboo. If you watch the video in its entirety you'll find I explain the difference & it is a major. As with any plants - trees, shrubs, plams, bamboo - if you are concerned about root damage etc. then yes, you can install a root barrier.
What a great idea.
Glad you think so! It worked for me. With feedback from viewers it seems to be most effective with the younger males.
👍🔥
Tiny trees!
Haha, yes, only young at that time @Gene.
Thank you for the great tutorial! Why should the pups be at least 30cm tall? And would that minimum be less for dwarf bananas?
Glad you enjoyed it. At that size they have enough roots and stored energy to be able to recover and establish once split off. The ones I showed were on a 'dwarf' Cavendish banana. Mature plants still get to a good 2m or more tall. 30cm/12" is the rough rule of thumb. If you have a pup that's smaller but shows solid leaf development then yes, you probably could take them when a little smaller. They may just take a little longer to revover.
Hii i love it i'll like bamboo
I have a sick camellia can I use horse manure? Thanks Sue uk
Hi Susan, I generally wouldn't recommend any manure that has not been composted as it can be too 'hot' for plants with excessive, unblended nutrients etc. Also need to be careful if it from horses that field graze (same goes for any pasture grazing animal manure) as it can contain weed seeds.
Is it detrimental to the growth of fruit to cover fruit trees with bird netting when they’re very young? My fruit trees are just starting to bear fruit, and although the fruit is tiny at this stage (nectarines the size of a marble) I already see bite marks in some. I covered the trees with netting but don’t know if it’ll inhibit growth of the fruit.
Hi @Juliette, a quality netting will allow the right levels of light & air circulation. The problem may be that if the netting is closely contacting the plant & fruit it could do some physical damage or knock young fruit off. If at all possible avoid contact with the plant.
That is great ! 👍
Thanks!
hi Iam in zone 5, can I plant those? and if it can survive, in winter it will lose all leaves in zone 5?
Hi, unfortunately, by my reading of the USDA zone map you'd be getting too cold in Zone 5. There may be some varieties which can tolerate that sort of cold but I am not familiar with them. I just did a quick bit of research for you & it seems that the cold-hardy bamboos are mostly running, not clumping varieties. Perhaps have a read of this article & see if it helps. bambubatu.com/clumping-bamboo-for-cold-climates-ornamental-options/
Hi Thank you for your video. I’m in the UK and I had recently got my camellia transplanted to another spot in the garden in Autumn. It’s spring now and it didn’t flower. Also majority of the leaves had fallen off. I have cut off a lot of the buds and foliage because I think it’s dying and I’m desperate to revive it. Any advice for after care after transplant.
Oh dear, that's sound like a bit of a problem... Camellias do transplant very well but there are a few rules with transplanting... - Make sure any damaged roots are pruned, not left spilt or shattered. - Plant it loose soil & don't add composts or manures etc. - Don't over-water as they are prone to rot is they stay too moist. - Reduce the foliage canopy by pruning hard. If roots have been removed but the canopy has been left largely intact the plant will basically dehydrate as it can't replace moisture it naturally loses through its leaves. - Be patient. It can take a while for a transplant to settle in.
What time of yr to you prune please?
After flowering @Mary. That will vary with the type of camellia so just let the plant tell you.
Thank you kindly @@AdamHWoodhams
Hi! What kind of paint did you use? Just regular black paint
Hi Imi, you need to use waterproofing paint, often called ‘brushable membrane’ to give a proper seal. Most big hardware stores will sell it.
what size hose is used?
13mm is standard 'drip-line' but not unusual to connect it with 19mm or larger to get the volume of water needed on longer runs.
Hello Adam ☀️. Thank you so much for three awesome videos. I've purchased both dendrocalamus membranaceus and bambusa arundinacea hoping to get some building materials in the long run. Saw they were both "clumping bamboo", but I'm a bit affraid that they might just spread as a clump all over the farm. So there is no need to build any sort of fencing, as you've mentioned in some comments below? And, have you any idea how much circumferential area these types can take? A bit unsure as to let them roam free. Thank you so much.
Hi Fernando, Booth of those are classed as clumping bamboos. They certainly shouldn't spread & take over as they will stay growing in that clumping form. Over many years they will form a clump a number of metres wide. If you need to keep the clump to a smaller size you can keep 'root pruning' it along the outside edges. Hope this helps!
P me
Also - I am in Indiana [zone 7?] and looking for a 15'+ clumping variety. Any help /options appreciated.
Hi Michael, Zone 7 is getting towards the cooler areas but there are clumpers that will grow well in those conditions. Have a look at the webpage I've linked below. The temperatures are in celsius on that page so you are looking for tolerant to up to -15˚ www.bambooland.com.au/plants/clumping-bamboo/?rf=va&va=9
With clumping bamboo do we need to take into account containing with a ring of 60 mil plastic or will they not ever go beyond a certain radius???? Also if I am planting a couple of feet above a water pipe is this ok or will their roots reach down and wrap themselves around????
They will spread but in roughly circular way. If you need to you can put a root barrier in place & it would need to go down at least 45cm/18". I generally don't recommend planting anything above pipes or conduits of any sort. Bamboo is however lower risk as it tends to be largely surface rooting. It would be very, very unlikely for the roots to go down 24" but... you can never tell.
I wanted to help my fiancée with the lawn and I was doing the same 10×12 space for over an hour. All the things you said would happen did happen. I had a melt down and then sat in my car crying until I saw your video. You sir, are from heaven. Thank you. 🙏🏾😊
Thanks Nikita, I do feel for you & wish you'd found my video first...
